there is a desperate need of change in our educational system... although i have been a part of this system which still priveals there is really a need to be a revision in the educational policies adopted by our ministry.....
let me clear myself with numerous examples.....in india when a baby crosses the age limit of 3 and a half year he reaches nursery lkg ukg where the primary seeds are born and the kid inspite of this background knowledge attains a level of sensual knowledge...slowly and gradually the child reaches class vth and begins to learn logical approach language skills history and many more.. comparing this parallel to u.s. almost same pattern happens but the problem arises when we dont know the fact what the student likes/dislike. according to me reaching upto 8th standard may give the idea of what phase or field or what talent that student posses.....in our school although there is an provision of elective courses but still may be we have a -ve effect of the same due to our increasing population.
let me clear it again with my example, till 10th class i was a science student and even got good grades but unfortunately my scores were the minimum in science, i.e english-87,hindi-89, maths-90,social science-93, science-78, i couldnt figure out on which field i shoula move and csarried over my 11th and 12th with maths and computer science, and frankly speaking i cleared all my 11th and 12th with very low grades and the enviornment of my school which was an millatry one wished all of us to join the armed forces which was not really on my mind. so i ended up neither being able to join the national defence academy and i managed a only 71% at 12th and had no options to take an year drop for preparation of engineering entrances.
the fact is that the real talents we have are not blushed in our high school so we are forced to study the unwanted, the things we dont like, our opininons and desires are suppressed and if we ask a tough level question to a teacher, the teacher instead of being curious yells at student saying i know u are testing my knowledge, get ready for a test tomorow..
our education is based on memorywise, we are not allowed to think of independent approach, in other words we follow the same pattern, the same coventions which cannot give birth to new discoveeries, here we lack the nobel prizes, the curious people, the great thinkers, we merely forced to mug up our ncert's or selected questions so that we cross the passing limit....
continuing my story, the one year i prepared for my entrances was the toughest phase of my life, or i should say the wierdest one, studying the hardest physics and mathematics levels of the indian institutes of technology, then i came to know the next four years of engineering could be very critical, the phase passed but i grew up learning tackling sums and had enough of elementary levels of the subject, but then i realised what i wanted to actually be, i loved writing, i enjoyed writing and i loved music, and i loved cooking..........
have we ever thought why the west have such a enormous band culture and we have a handful of bands, why the indians arent able to do shows like a natonal geograhic or a discovery, or why we have a few olympic medals, or the pool of scientists are from there, problem doesnt lie in the fact that we are weak or incompetent, its all about a very must need of focussing on the interests, or being very pasionate and creative about your work, and excelling in all terms, we are the world champions in cricket, the best in cultural heritage, he best food in the world is in india, we are the software pool, and many more to follow, but there is always an scope for improvement so that we can compete with any type of talent in the world...
talking further about my story, i got admitted to one of the prestigious institute of m.p., and was very hopeful, and things were going as usual but i had an subject enginnering drawing, which was perhaps a no bussines to a person like me who had learnt the fact that arts and literature was the world i was looking for, i got passed by grace in that subject and had boundary type scores in rest but had 78/100 in english which made me rethink again of really i am happy with engineering or not, then again one of my friend introduced me to music of two bands of America namely green day and linkin park which changed my music approach, which shifted to being more creative and experimental, and giving the feeling to innovate your interests, so i feel an independent approach must be there at high school level to be the premier of those taken tasks and having the ability to influence people around....
